Light of Lanai. This majestic yet modern billiard table lamp is 15 In high, 17 in. wide and 49 inches long with 4 separate pieces meeting in compound curves and a wrap-around theme of tropical florals dancing a colorful pattern. This custom billiard table lamp was designed and built by Kate on commission for a private residence in Hawaii. The metal work was designed and built by Carson Janssen of La Pine, OR. The dichroic florals change hue based on reflected or transmitted light. This functional yet provocatively artistic lighting piece provides adequate lamination for the billiard table yet claims main stage in the seaside billiard room of its Hawaiian residence. All of the florals in this piece include dichroic glass. So therefore the color changes depending upon whether the light is reflected (light off) or transmitted (light on). This effect can be seen on the additional photos available by clicking on the photo at left. (2014)
Orchid Chandelier. This chandelier was designed and built by Kate for the entry hall of a home on the Hawaiian Island of Lanai and was inspired by the beautiful orchids used in making Hawaiian leis. The 30 individual orchids were designed by Kate and blown by Luca Rattazzi of Effetto Glassworks, Richmond, CA, as was the central cone. The powder coated stems were made by Carson Jensen of La Pine, OR. The piece has an overall length of 21 inches and is about 18 inches wide overall at the top, tapering to about 9 inches in overall width at the bottom. Photo by Studio 7, Bend, OR.
Tuscany Style Ceiling Fixture. This 16 inch custom scavo bowl was designed and built by Kate for the master bath of a Tuscan-style Villa in Eastern Oregon.
Glass Arch. This back-lit glass arch was commissioned by the owner of a Mexican restaurant to divide the final food preparation and set up area from the dining room. It provides both an artistic interest and ambient light for food “pass-through” and the dining area. The arch is 10.5 feet long and 54 inches high. It was made fused in 8 sections with the seams hidden. The red swirl at the upper left is the logo of the restaurant.
